It was the worst lodge. The staffs were unkind and irresponsible. After staying for three nights, while checking out, I found in my bank account that more money was paid to the lodge than the receipt. The over-paid amount was about half the cost of a day's stay. So I requested them to explain the reason why it was paid more than all the original fees, taxes and deposits. But they couldn't explain it and repeated that it was a matter of debit cards. In case of a debit card, over paid??? Is it reasonable? What a irresponsible!!!
Everything was good and we enjoyed our stay. The only thing I would suggest is providing better pillows. The ones that we had we're big and not comfortable.
I will say that the staff are quite friendly. Booked the Econo Lodge in Hinton while spending a few days in Jasper because of the cheaper rate. The hotel is quite dated however and I've stayed at the Ramadan down the street in the past and was far more impressed with it. The breakfast is probably my biggest disappointment. The hot food was kept in the fridge and had to be microwaved. It worked fine for the omelette but the breakfast sausage was pretty foul cooked that way. My fruit was also bruised and brown. The gym is pretty sad though there is coin laundry for when returning from hikes in the park. It's a tough decision if you want to save the money by lodging outside of Jasper and adding two hour drive to all your activities though. With all the selection in Hinton, even if you do stay there, there are lots of options to consider.
Rooms were decent. Breakfast was below average. Waffles, sausage were in the fridge already cooked but you had to heat them up in the microwave.
You get what you pay for, the standard for a three star hotel. Rooms were clean and spacious. The staff was helpful. Breakfast buffet was alright, nothing special. Our biggest point of criticism is the waste of plastic in this hotel. Plastic cups in the bathroom and the whole breakfast area is a sea of plastic: plates, utensils, cups etc. Not very environmentally friendly.
